Trent Duncan talks about “Michael Myers vs Candyman”

posted Aug 10, 2016, 7:08 AM by Constance Payne

Film director Trent Duncan created the epic slasher battle, “Jason Voorhees vs Michael Myers.” This fan film, released over 10 months ago, is now nearing one million views on YouTube. In addition to his video work, he is also launching his own horror film festival. Known as The End of Days, it will debut in Southern Florida on Saturday May 14th.

It’s always a pleasure to talk with Trent, because he is a true fan of the genre as well as a movie director. Trent answered some questions about his upcoming movie, “Michael Myers vs Candyman.”

Trent Duncan talks about “Michael Myers vs Candyman”

Slickster: Hey Trent. Glad to have you back on the site. How are you doing?

Trent: I’m doing fantastic. Glad to be back.

Last time we talked you were preparing for The End of Days festival and riding on the success of “Jason vs Michael.” What have you been up to since then?

Well after “Jason vs Michael,” I’ve been working on “Michael vs Candyman.” It’s another little short film. It’s going to be less than 10 minutes. But, it will put the iconic Michael Myers versus the wonderful Candyman in an epic battle to the death!..................cont.

I got a quick little mention in this article for my upcoming film Micheal vs Candyman...

6 Ways to Achieve Success

posted Jun 17, 2016, 10:14 AM by Constance Payne   [ updated Jun 17, 2016, 10:17 AM ]

Here are a few tips that will help you become successful, these are the things I did or continue to do anyways.

1. Quit blowing your money on stupid things. If you want to achieve any goal, you must first establish a budget, and only buy the things you actually need so you can save the rest for whatever your future entails. Even if you’re not sure what you’re saving for, you should still do it, because one day a goal will become clear and you’ll be financially ready. There have been periods in my life where my entire wardrobe fit in a single backpack, and I wiped my ass with newspaper because my focus was not on the "here and now", it was on where I wanted to be.

2. Stay out of the bar. Being the popular one at the bar is like being popular in high school- it doesn’t mean shit in the real world. People who create their own success don’t drink their lives away. Success is mind, body, and focus. It’s hard to focus when you’re drunk or hungover all the time, and anyone who says they can operate like that is just lying to themselves.

3. Make good choices, or at least do your best to not do blatantly stupid things. We all make mistakes, but I’ve noticed that there is a good portion of the population that continues to make the same poor choices repeatedly, or ignore the obvious signs of a bad idea. Think things through before you do them, and do your research when you’re unsure about which path to take. Don’t ask people for advice that only have an opinion, not an educated answer- that would be like asking a grocery bagger for legal advice. And don't ask someone for advice just because their older than you either, just because someone has a few years on you doesn't always make them wiser. Talk to people who are educated, specifically ones that are in the field you are trying to break into. Scour the internet for answers too, but don’t base your sole opinion off of one book, blog, or news source- proper research is extensive.

4. If you know what your goal is, create a yearlong plan, and then break that up into quarters. One big goal doesn’t just magically manifest itself; it takes a series of small steps to accomplish anything worthwhile. Don’t be a quitter either. Failure is inevitable, and you will fail many times before you start to gain momentum so take each one in stride, learn from your mistakes, and carry on. Eventually, you will succeed as long as you are putting in the work and educating yourself in all aspects of your endeavors.

5. Focus on what’s best for you and your goals- everything else is secondary. I know that may sound selfish, but it’s like when you’re on an airplane and the oxygen masks fall from the overhead compartments- you are instructed to put yours on first before assisting others.

6.  Don’t be a dick. No matter how many steps you climb on the social ladder it is important to remain humble. Besides, people who go screaming from the mountaintops about all the things they’ve accomplished are viewed as egotistical morons by others. No one likes a bragging idiot.

7 Things Random People Say to Me Because I am Heavily Tattooed

posted Jun 13, 2016, 10:41 AM by Constance Payne   [ updated Jun 13, 2016, 10:46 AM ]

I come into contact with all sorts of people when I leave my office. When making eye contact I smile politely, say hello like a normal person, or just mind my own business. Occasionally, I run into some pretty negative people though. While these types used to bother me, I just carry on with my day because I’m pretty positive that I don’t need to prove my self-worth to some random jerk. Here are the top 7 things random people say to me because I am heavily tattooed.

1. “Doesn't that hurt?” People always say this with a snarled upper lip too, as if my appearance is truly disgusting to them. I always wonder what these types of people do for a living, and I hope it doesn’t involve caring for children, the sick, or the elderly because this question is straight up foolish. Of course it hurts- they certainly weren't licked on by baby unicorns.

2. “You must have trouble finding a job.” To think that my appearance would hinder my ability to find gainful employment is extremely rude because you’re basically saying that I look like an idiot. Would you like to hear my opinion of how you appear to me?

3. “What did your parents say?” People always whisper this question as if the act of getting a tattoo is shameful, and the only reason someone would get one would be to piss off their makers. Also, I don't have parents, so thanks for the reminder. How would you like it if I asked personal questions about your home life while we stand in line to pay for gas?

4. “You’re going to regret that when you’re older.” Don't tell me how I am going to think about myself in the future. When someone is covered with tattoos they obviously didn't get them all in one day or even within a year, they've been doing this a very long time, and have spent a lot of money on them. Everyone’s body is a lifelong piece of work. It doesn’t matter if you choose to be super fit, mold yourself to a certain lifestyle trend, or decorate your temple with permanent artwork.

5. “Why did you do that to your body?” My tattoos are a part of my soul. No, I don’t expect anyone to actually understand that, but the beauty about it is that you don’t have to. This question also proves that you lack the ability to mind your own damn business. After all, I didn’t make any comments about your stupid haircut and piss poor dye job- I’m just here to mail a few packages.

6. “You know those are permanent, right?” No, I had no idea. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I must be some kind of idiot living in la la land who doesn’t have a job, with a sole purpose to piss off my parents, and whose only occupation is being “hot on the internet”.

7. “What are you going to do when tattoos aren’t the new trend anymore?” While there are certain tattoos that are trendy and trending, that does not make the culture of tattooing “the new black”. Whenever I come across a culture that I don’t understand I educate myself by reading- you should try it sometime.
